A key activity of the Serbian National Competence Centre (NCC) for High-Performance Computing (HPC), HPC Serbia, is fostering collaboration between academia and industry through HPC. Dr. Marija Mitrović Dankulov from the Institute of Physics Belgrade highlights that one of the NCC's main aims is to make HPC more accessible to industry and showcase its potential for business advancements.

Initially, HPC Serbia offers companies access to smaller computational resources from its own cluster, while also advising them on applying for larger capacities provided by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. These resources are often available free for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, fostering innovation and growth.

Marija mentions that NCC Serbia has partnered with Syrmia, a company from Novi Sad, to develop large datasets with various noises to train autonomous vehicle algorithms. A proof-of-concept project with 60seconds demonstrated how real data can be used to train algorithms and incorporate them into everyday business processes.

Beyond technical assistance, training is a vital part of the NCC’s efforts. Looking forward, Dr. Marija Mitrović Dankulov plans to develop customized training programs tailored to the needs of different companies, to further accelerate the adoption of HPC technologies across various sectors.
